Neoclassical palace in Trieste

Project

Neoclassical building

Location

Via San Nicolò Trieste (TS) - Italy

Type

Interior renovation

The Neoclassical, listed building, built in the early 19th century, is located on the edge of the ‘Borgo Teresiano’ in the historic centre of Trieste. The building represents a significant historical and architectural testimony in Trieste, not only because James Joyce stayed there, but also because of the precious ornamental elements characteristic of neoclassical architecture. With a view to philological restoration, the work on the interior of the building includes the following conservative restoration work:

  • Restoration and static consolidation of ornamental stone elements;
  • Restauro e consolidamento statico di elementi in pietra ornamentale;
  • Construction of a large glass roof over the inner courtyard;
  • Restoration of all external and internal doors and windows;
  • Restauro di tutte le porte e finestre esterne e interne;
  • Static consolidation and foundation underpinning.
